Why GMail is still BETA

by Bharat on Feb.14, 2009, under Internet

Its been long when Gmail was launched and revolutionised the web mail service. It was launched as a beta service and remains to be in BETA like may of the Google products. But, what’s the reason behind the Google’s BETA policy? Lets analyse.

A BETA version basically means that its a public test version which may contain bugs, vulnerabilities etc. Simply put it Google is not responsible for anything that happens to any of their Beta products. It means they can delete your account, leave it stranded or may even completely shut it down and in that case there’s nothing you can do, because that what Beta means. A Beta is to be used at users own risk.

But considering the fact that it comes from Google there is a negligible chance of that happening. So keep enjoying the best email service on net and keep your fingers crossed ;)
